Professor Mosepele resigns from Covid-19 task team

Professor Mosepele Mosepele who is believed to be the brains behind the Covid-19 presidential Task team has resigned following months of a bruising tussle with the Ministry of Health and the PIC Force.

Professor Mosepele has been the Deputy Coordinator of  Covid-19 Task Force since its formation early in the year.

Sources from the Office of The President and the PIC force confirmed to the Sunday Standard that Professor Mosepele handed his resignation to President Mokgweetsi Masisi yesterday (Thursday).

The PIC which is made up of Permanent Secretaries is understood to have teamed up with the Ministry of Health to fight the task team.

The fight boiled over last week after it emerged that the Ministry of Health had entered into a secret Covid-19 deal with the Atlanta based US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) behind the back of the task team. (Read Sunday Standard for details.)
