Ramotswa U13 Cricket Tournament commences

Whilst the excitement of the recent success by the senior men’s team is still fresh, the commitment to spreading the game and searching for talent for the future continues.

The Botswana Cricket Association is presently holding an U-13 tournament in Ramotswa for Government Primary Schools between October 15 ÔÇô 24, 2012. This is similar to the one held last year but the slight difference from last year is that it was a mixed team tournament for boys and girls.

This year the boys’ tournament comprises of 6 teams and the girls tournament comprises of 4 teams.
The 20 overs a match tournament began with Seboko vs Ketsherebothata. Ketsherebothata posted a good total of 155 runs in the full 20 overs. In reply Seboko were bowled out for a low score of 77 runs in their allotted 20 overs with Tetlo Maiketso picking up the man of the match award.

In the second game of the tournament the Ketsherebothata carried their form in the previous encounter into their match with Magopane by emphatically thumping Magopane by 135 runs.

Having batted first, Ketsherebothata posted a mammoth total of 185 and then dismissed and restricted their opponents to 47 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from their 20 overs.

The news of further cricketing development in the nation comes after calls from the Botswana National Sports Council to take cricket to other regions besides Gaborone. The success of the Twenty 20 senior team that was promoted to Africa’s Division 1 after the team was crowned champions of the Pepsi International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Division 2 championships in Benoni South Africa will only help spur on on future generations of cricketers.
