One of the Premier League’s old boys, Notwane are once again in a precarious position as far as relegation is concerned. There is likelihood that the team will drop to the First Division unless they reverse their current poor form in the coming two weeks.
Notwane are currently fourth from the bottom of the Premier League. They still have a game to play against fellow relegation candidates, FC Satmos, this coming week. It is imperative for Notwane to win their match against Satmos in order to avoid any unnecessary distractions. There is also a pending protest case against Notwane and if they fail to win this case, they might find themselves being relegated for the first time in their existence. Notwane has for many years avoided relegation by a whisker and only time will tell if they will manage to survive this ordeal.
Notwane were once relegated but instead the Botswana Football Association (BFA) expelled Police from active participation in BFA related activities for not paying subscription fee which resulted in Notwane getting a lifeline. Even about twenty years ago Notwane were almost relegated but fortunately they had a case against Rollers where they ended up approaching courts. It was then decided that Notwane should replay against Rollers.
It remains to be seen whether this time around, Notwane would survive this predicament. Satmos on the other hand have been disappointing this season and they have no one else to blame, but themselves. Just last season after being promoted, they did well and finished on position five. They ended up selling their prized striker, Patrick Kaunda to Premier League side, Platinum Stars. How Satmos ended up in the deep relegation zone remains a bitter pill to swallow for them. Already Ecco City Green and Letlapeng have relegated to the First Division and are waiting for either Notwane or Satmos to join them.
