Russian intelligence-linked hackers attack Botswana

The Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) has revealed a significant spike in botnet infections linked to the notorious Moobot botnet allegedly controlled by APT28-a hacking group widely believed to have ties to Russian military intelligence.

BOCRA disclosed in its 2024 annual report released recently that that the surge in infections had compromised several critical systems across Botswana raising concerns about the nation’s cybersecurity infrastructure.
