The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) says they need help from Sport Volunteers Movement to re-open sport.
“I am aware that there is a pressure towards BNSC to open and play sport. BNSC must do it in SVM’s advice . Advice us better and on how sport can be opened up,” BNSC chairman Marumo Morule pleaded with SVM.
With the intensity of the pandemic and following the health protocols, he states that BNSC asks the movement to help with re-opening of sport activities.
He reassured stakeholders that there is value in the movement that will continue helping carrying sport forward.
“BNSC appreciates the role of SVM and the volunteers of Botswana sport. We reassure stakeholders that we continue to see the value of the movement in Botswana sport ,the establishment of the movement as a sub structure to BNSC was a wise and visionary decision,” he said.
Morule mentioned that during the outbreak of the pandemic, SVM leadership was able to strategise to ensure that there is business continuity through the adoption of the use of technology.
“May we continue to contribute to the socio-economic value of sport.The previous committee has done an excellent job and I wish for the new committee to make a continuation of that,” he said.
Keenese Katisenge -Tizhani has been praised for her leadership in the SVM as Chairperson last term, For her part she said all regions were active so everyone did their job well.
In regards to the strategy Tizhani said the strategies of establishing progress in an organisation required partnerships with National Sport Associations, government departments, parastatals ,private organizations and international collaborations.
