The Novembers inauguration ceremony to usher in the Republic’s 6th State President, Duma Boko, was quite an emotional event, marking the country’s first ever change of government. And when the First Lady kneeled down with humility and respect, and proffered both hands in greeting to the President, who had just given his acceptance speech, the hearts of traditionalists swelled with immense pride.
Duma Boko is State President due to his 12-year struggle that saw fluctuating fortunes in the unforgiving opposition trenches as leader of UDC. At one point he served a term as LOO before unexpectedly losing his parliamentary seat at the 2019 general elections. He persevered and made a stunning comeback at the recent general elections, this time as state president.
