By the time Saxton Kowa who was buried last weekend arrived at Molefi Secondary School in 1970, the Kowas were already an established family among the Kgatleng community and some even thought they were the Mochudians. Arriving first in Mochudi were his elder brother and elder sister, Fraser Rejoice Kowa and Marclarty Andy Kowa who stayed at the Mosanteng area of Mochudi attending school.
When Saxton arrived and got deeply involved in the formation of Centre Chiefs Football Club alongside the likes of Joel Carter Mpete, Rejoice Pele Tlhowe, Philemon Choppers Modibedi, Tlhabane Mecro Magetse, Archie Aphiri, Tshepo Aphiri, Isaac Davis and so forth, fewer people knew he was an outsider. Many thought he was a Mochudian too. No matter what their thoughts were, those who knew he was an outsider from Mochudi and those who thought he was a tribesman were right and wrong. It is not the question of the “eyes have it, the eyes have it”. Even the Nos had it. To begin with the right have it, the Kowas had a historical attachment to Mochudi.
