The system is down, not the road traffic act 

On 29 September 2026, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure issued a press release announcing interim measures following a government systems outage affecting the Department of Road Transport and Safety. Expired transport permits are to be extended manually and endorsed with an official stamp. Vehicles with expired roadworthiness certificates are to be physically tested, with a manual defect receipt issued as temporary clearance. The release states that these interventions will be recognised by all law enforcement officers until systems are restored.
