Thousands of employees in the country’s mining industry are expected to lose their jobs as several coal mining companies close shop and the Botswana diamond industry undertakes a restructuring exercise.
Debswana recently announced that it has approved approximately 500 requests for voluntary separation from a December 2024 exercise, with “significant interest” being noted.
