Threats to kill cases on the increase

Cases of threats to kill are the order of day at the Gaborone Extension II magistrate court.

Hardly a day passes without principal magistrate Barnabas Nyabazabo presiding over one of such cases.

On Friday February 23rd 2007 a twenty nine year old Mogoditshane based soldier was arraigned in the dock for threatening to kill his girl-friend.
Keoagile Molefhe, who was not asked to plead because the case was still fresh and under investigations, is alleged to have threatened to kill Julia Makatane (27) at Gaborone Main mall by uttering ?Kene ke biditswe ko tirong ka case ya gago.

Ke tsile go go bolaya, fa nna ke senyegelwa ke tiro?.
Accused was released on conditional bail and to appear for another mention on March 26th 2007.
Accused was prohibited from committing any offence while outside bail.

Further he was interdicted from making any threats of violence or threats to kill the complainant through any media of communication either by e-mail, cell phone or any form of communication available.

In another similar case this week a 26 year old man from Lesetlhana ward in Ramotswa appeared before principal magistrate Barnabas Nyamazabo on charges of threats to kill.

Caiphus Legakwa is alleged on February 19th 2007 in Ramotswa threatened he would kill Keikantse Amos by uttering ?wena ke a ikana. Kwa ga eno go tla nna le kesi, ke tla go bolaya. Letsatsi le ga le kake la phirima?.

Accused was also released on conditional bail that included interdiction of making any threats of violence or threats to kill the complainant through any means of communication.
