Trump’s squeeze on Botswana diamonds puts thousands of jobs on the line

Thousands of jobs in the Botswana diamond cutting and polishing industry are on the line as the United States of America’s “reciprocal” tariffs imposed on Botswana cripple the country’s ambitious diamond beneficiation drive.

Botswana’s diamond beneficiation has created 4200 cutting and polishing jobs and accounts for 5% of Botswana’s GDP, which is more than three times the combined contribution of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing.
