The Minister of Education Dr. Douglas Letsholathebe has acknowledged the restructuring exercise at University of Botswana (UB), saying it was necessary to align the university’s structure with its corporate strategy and cost structure. Letsholathebe told Parliament this week that UB employees had been formally notified of the likelihood of job losses through retrenchment, in compliance with employment regulations.
Dr. Never Tshabang, Member of Parliament for Nkange, raised questions regarding the ongoing retrenchment exercise at the UB. Tshabang sought clarification from the Minister regarding the long-standing despair among UB employees, emphasizing the need for a resolution and an assessment of the potential consequences.
