Unity Dow off to London, Rammidi to replace her at Parley

Following the recall of Roy Blackbeard as Botswana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development, Dr Unity Dow is set to resign from parliament and become the new High Commissioner in London.

Sources revealed late Thursday evening that it is only a matter of time before the Specially Elected Member of Parliament (SEMP) leave for London to replace Blackbeard. Blackbeard has been held the position for the past 20 years.

It is largely expected that upon the departure of Dow to London, and her resignation from Parliament, the newly Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) returnee, Kentse Rammidi will be roped in as her replacement.

President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who is believed to have personally recruited Rammidi back to the BDP, is expected to nominate the former Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Secretary General as a Special elected Member of Parliament (SEMP).

Rammidi, who left the BDP a few years back as its Secretary General and doubled as a minister is tipped to play a big role in the 2019 general elections campaign for the ruling party.

More details on redeployments and key appointments to follow.
