The West is slowly but surely descending into a cultural morass. And just as night follows day, this morass will in turn, trigger the West’s economic decline. And when the West goes down, we too go down with them. The West’s success is our success and vice versa. However, there is a cabal of vociferous lobby groups in the West which is fixated on remaking society. While for example, many of us who fall in the category of the Great Unwashed, know that there are two biological sexes, in the West to the contrary, some are busy redefining a person’s sex. Therefore a person’s sex is simply what they choose it to be. So in their book, there are not two but as many sexes as one cares to count. I am aware that by the mere act of broaching this subject , I provoke the ire of lobbyists and before I know it , will be labeled as homophobic! But I digress.
Perhaps as further proof of this decline, you have to note how things got comical at the ongoing confirmation hearings of Ketanji Brown Jackson. One of the senators interviewing Jackson- a nominee for the US Supreme Court – asked her to define a woman. She reacted like a deer in the headlights and all she could do was murmur something to the effect that she is not a biologist! Really? This coming from somebody picked by none other than the president of the United States as the first black woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court would be laughable were it not a symptom of cultural decadence ravaging the West ! When someone who has been nominated primarily because she would be the first black female to sit on the most powerful court in the US, claims not to know what a woman is, then this world is in trouble!
Still in the US , there is the case of Lia Thomas , a swimmer who made the transition from male to female and now competes with biologically female swimmers. Obviously she is beating her natural women competitors because she is physiologically different! She has a bigger upper body and bigger hands because he was born male. Her entry has tilted the scales and the notions of equal opportunity and a level playing field in sports have been thrown asunder.
The remaking of society is not only cultural but has serious economic ramifications too. Whether we recognise that danger is another matter. The West is engaged in a suicidal mission to switch to so called renewable energy without ensuring first that such a move does not endanger their economic welfare. As if that is not enough, they are hell bent on foisting the renewable energy agenda on all of us through the United Nations and its myriad agencies. That even the IMF, an erstwhile bastion of clear headed thinking has joined the bandwagon bodes ill. The Ukraine crisis has already exposed the West’s underbelly due to its reliance on Russia oil and gas caused by an obsession with shutting down traditional and reliable energy sources in favour of fashionable but unviable wind and solar. However Europe and some in US see the war as a crisis that must not go waste. Tragically, they see it as an opportunity to fast track the move to wind and solar.
It is also telling that while the West’s self-destruction mode gathers pace, rivals such as China and Russia on the other hand, are not coming on board. They understand that there are no tangible benefits in eschewing traditional values in favour of the fads that we see take root in the West. China for one understands that it is in competition with the United States and is not about to ramp down its carbon emissions. The Chinese are therefore are busy building coal fired power stations.
I don’t like their politics but they understand that the family comprising a man and woman is the basic unit of society and that if you deliberately undo that, you sow the seeds of your own economic destruction. Luckily for them unlike some of us in the Third Word, they cannot be bullied. They also know that for now there are no viable alternatives to fossils fuels and nuclear energy.
