Police say that they have not yet received any report concerning an assassination plot against the Member of Parliament of Gaborone North West, Robert Masitara.
This follows after Masitara was quoted last week in the media as saying that some people are plotting to assassinate him because of his expose’ of corruption practices within parastatals.
“I, personally, especially in my office, have not yet received any report regarding any assassination plot against Honourable Robert Masitara,” the Acting Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Detective Assistant Commissioner, Kesetsenao Tshweneitsile, told The Sunday Standard.
He said if it had been reported, it had not yet been routed to his office for investigation.
He explained that the public is fully aware that once one has been threatened one way or the other such particular person has an obligation to go to the nearest Police Station and lodge his or her complain and a docket would be opened.
He added that once a docket has been opened, investigation will commence as soon as possible.
“It is very important that complainants should always tell the police the whole truth when they register their complaints and be able to provide necessary information that can assist the police during investigations,” he said.
Efforts to contact Mr Masitara were futile at the time of going to print.
