Baby found dumped at Francistown Golf Course

Police in Francistown are appealing to members of the public to help them arrest a mother who dumped her five month old baby at the Francistown Golf Club last week.

According to the Francistown Police Station Commander, Superintendent Mojaboswa Mathitha, police received a report from a member of the public who was jogging along the golf course on Tuesday last week.

“We were alerted of the incident by a member of the public who was jogging along the Francistown Golf course,” said Mathitha. “The baby was taken to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital and was certified dead on arrival.”

The Station Commander revealed that it is the second incident in his policing area this year.

“Although such criminal incidents are not many in Francistown, they are of great concern,” he said, adding that the police are currently busy with the investigations and pleaded with the public to come forth and give them tips in order to arrest the suspect.

Touching on other criminal activities troubling the city, the Station Commander lamented the escalation of burglary, theft and house breakings in the city, saying that the situation is taking a disturbing direction.

“The most affected locations are Chinatown, Monarch and Ntshe,” he said.

Mathitha asked the public to join hands with the police to fight crime in the city.
