BancABC goes digital to increase customer convenience

BancABC recently launched its digital mobile banking solution as part of strategic efforts aimed at increasing its market share in Botswana by delivering on the bank’s digital strategy and increasing banking convenience for customers.

BancABC Managing Director (MD), Jitto Kurian said at the launch that the operational milestone was indicative of their commitment to providing efficient banking services to customers, adding that the solution was a first of its kind in the country.

“We understand that our customers want efficient and reliable products and services. Our customers want technological solutions that make their lives easier and BancABC mobi is that solution,” said Kurian.

He said BancABC’s digital mobile banking solution also offers self registration, such that the customer does not need to go to the branch to register.

“No other bank in the country offers this kind of convenience,” he said.

BancABC mobi can be used by any customer to interact on their account at any time of their choice, said Kurian. Further, he explained that a three-step process of downloading from App stores and registering for the App allows customers to perform various transactions.

“We aim to be a partner of choice and a top tier bank in every market where we operate. We are focused on embedding a culture of innovation and we will continue to leverage technology for positive disruption,” he said.

The bank further said it had identified an opportunity to provide additional transactional and service channels for its customers in order to enhance its value proposition. Through the mobile banking solution customers will be able to access banking services at their convenience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. Some of the features offered on BancABC mobi include the ability to make DSTV payments, loan application enquiries, purchase of prepaid electricity, purchases of prepaid airtime and balance enquiries, among other functionalities. The solution will also enable users to conduct inter-account transfers between own accounts or to other BancABC accounts.

“Customers will also be able to conduct transfers to other banks and make bill payments at their convenience,” said Kurian.

Meanwhile, Kurian said BancABC aims to grow until it is ranked among the top three banks in Botswana. He added that the banks’ retail banking segment has been performing well since its inception in 2010, as evidenced by the opening of eight branches across the country.
