Barclays Bank Botswana has officially launched the Barclaycard Platinum, a lifestyle-based credit card for its up market clients.
The bank’s Head of Products and Portfolio, Diakolo Moroka, said that in designing the platinum card product they looked at the product suit that the bank has in its credit cards, namely the classic card and the Barclays Premier League card. She said the credit card is targeting the affluent market.
She stated that the bank observed there was lack of representation in some of the segments of the market and added that they did some research and saw it fit to launch Barclaycard which is platinum range.
Furthermore, she said the product also brings a networking opportunity for their customers. She stated that it is designed for international travelers.
“We designed it looking at offers in the travel industry, in the dining industry, in the hospitality industry and is not kept home locally but it is more international,” she said.
Moroka pointed out that the product caters for those who want the best in life and added that it is the bank’s job to make customers life easier and more convenient. “This card is all about complementing your lifestyle”.
She also revealed that the Barclaycard Platinum offers great deals such as low monthly interest rate, worldwide Visa offerings and free insurance. She said it also has free emergency assistance as well as discounts from various local outlets. She further pointed out that the worldwide Visa offerings in hotels are composed of some of the world’s most intriguing and prestigious properties.
“Our customers will enjoy the best available rates, room upgrade at request, late checkout, free airport transfers and discounts accorded instantly with platinum card payment,” said Moroka.
She also pointed out the Barclaycard cardholder will be protected against any unauthorized use of the card, in the event of the accidental loss or theft of the card, or fraudulent activity, provided the card is reported as lost or stolen within 24 hours.
“We will continue to be the leading bank in the country in terms of market share and we are fully up to standard in terms of service and security,” she stated.
Locally, she stated that the bank has discount deals from various partners such as Avis Botswana, Loads of Living, Rodizio Brazilian restaurant, Urban Space as well as Shongololo Lounge.
