BDF XI compounds Motlakase’s relegation woes

Motlakase Power Dynamos’ relegation woes were compounded this past weekend as they were thrashed 7 ÔÇô 1 by a marauding BDF XI.

In what was a baptism of fire for Motlakase, the Palapye outfit was undone by a brace apiece from Keeagile Kobe and Abi Ramodiane, as well as goals from Khumbulani Madziba, Patrick Kaunda and Phenyo Mongala. Motlakase’s fate was all but sealed in a lopsided first half that saw BDF XI net four goals. ‘Chouka,’ as Motlakase is known, never turned up in the first half and BDF XI took advantage, putting the struggling side under pressure from the moment the whistle blew but failing to find the way past the Motlakase rearguard. The floodgates were however opened as early as the 14th minute when Motlakase’s keeper and the defense were caught napping. The rearguard failed to deal with a harmless cross into the box and Madziba, who was unmarked, bundled it into the net. Three minutes later, the Palapye outfit was pegged another goal back when Madziba’s cross from the left wing fell into the path of Ramodiane, who made no mistake, netting past Segakolodi Ntima to extend BDF XI’s lead to two. Motlakase then suffered a setback as Ntima was forced out by injury and was replaced by Siamang Kgosipula. BDF XI’s third goal would come in the 33rd minute as Kaunda finished off a good move involving Kobe and Othusitse Mpharitlhe. A good interplay between the two saw Mpharitlhe ping a ball into the box for Kaunda, who chest trapped it, and coolly slotted past Kgosipula. BDF XI then made the game a formality in the 40th minute when Kobe was gifted a chance by Kgosipula. The keeper fluffed a routine save from Pelontle Lerole’s cross, tipping it into the path of Kobe, who gratefully obliged and netted his first goal of the afternoon to ensure BDF XI went to recess leading by four goals. From recess, Motlakase showed glimpses of recovery as they then took the game to BDF XI. They were duly rewarded for their efforts in the 50th minute as Goitseone Legopelo put one past BDF XI keeper Ontiretse Gaotlobogwe to reduce the deficit. With BDF XI on the backfoot, Gaotlhobogwe went down, allowing BDF XI mentor Beston Chambeshi to talk to his charges. Chambeshi’s pep talk worked a charm as BDF XI regained their stranglehold on the game and took the game to Motlakase. Any signs of recovery for Motlakase were doused in the 57th minute when Ramodiane pounced on a rebound to bag his brace. Fifteen minutes later, it was Kobe’s turn to bag his brace and take BDF XI’s goal tally of the day to six. BDF XI were not yet done as they then netted their seventh and final goal in referee Leteng Magogwe’s additional time courtesy of substitute Phenyo Mongala.
