Behaviour of MPs in the House

Parliament is the coliseum of politicians, a theatre of combat for political ideas. So, conduct in the House is regulated to ensure Parliamentary decorum. The Standing Orders are crafted to govern the behaviour and conduct of MPs, ensuring effective and efficient debates as well as dignity and order during the proceedings. Rules of order and procedure include how MPs dress, enter and leave the Chamber, move around, how they speak and address each other and the Speaker and the language usage. The subject of behaviour of MPs has been discussed in Kgotla meetings, raised as a concern by members of the public who complained about the conduct of MPs, how the address and treat each other and their general conduct in the Chamber.
