Botswana drops out of world’s top ten in investment attractiveness

Botswana has dropped several places in the Investment Attractiveness Index and ranks 15th (out of 86) after ranking among the top 10 jurisdictions last year, the latest Fraser Institute Survey of Mining Companies has found.

The Canadian think tank noted that: “Botswana’s lower Policy Perception Index (PPI) score this year (-5.6 points) reflects increasing concerns about skilled labor (+15 points), infrastructure (+9 points), its geological database (+9 points) and uncertainty concerning protected areas (+9 points).”

According to the Fraser Institute Survey; “This year, Botswana dropped several places in the Investment Attractiveness Index and ranks 15th (out of 86).”  Despite this decline, the report shows that “Botswana is the highest ranked jurisdiction in Africa based on policy, ranking 4th (of 86) on the PPI in 2023. “
