Botswana Railways derails into debt,   wagons and shares under hammer

Botswana Railways (BR) which is the country’ once-proud transport lifeline is facing a deepening financial crisis as two separate High Court cases have led to the attachment of its assets including train wagons, a truck and company shares over mounting debts.

Court documents seen by Sunday Standard reveal that the state-owned enterprise is now the subject of multiple legal enforcement actions after failing to settle judgment debts owed to private companies, including Voodoo Holdings and Excess Petroleum (Pty) Ltd.
