International credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings has revised its outlook on Botswana from stable to negative, citing weak global demand for diamonds and depressed prices as key factors weighing on the country’s export and fiscal flows. Despite this outlook change, the agency has affirmed Botswana’s long-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings at ‘BBB+’ and its short-term ratings at ‘A-2’.
