Bring Back the Train on the Rails

Bechuanaland became a vital connection between Rhodesia and the Union of South Africa at the beginning of the 20th Century as this country accommodated a vital strip of railway line that connected the two countries. This rail strip became the lifeblood of the economy that was built by Cecil John Rhodes of the British South Africa Company.

This line equally became a lifeline for the economy of Bechuanaland until the country gained independence in 1966 and changed the name to Botswana. The train was such an important mode of transport. It was not only important, but it was also reliable as compared to other forms of road transport.
