Bruising battle for second spot expected in the premier league

Rollers have been confirmed as this year’s be-MOBILE Premier League champions, and teams are now battling for the second spot.

So far, it looks like it will be a fiery contest, and indications are that the battle for second position might go all the way to the last game of the league.

Currently, three teams will most likely slug it out for second position. These are Uniao Flamengo Santos, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Lobatse side, Extension Gunners. ECCO City Greens are also in contention, but they have a slimmer chance.

Santos currently have 57 points, 1 point ahead of Chiefs, 3 points ahead of Gunners, and 7 points ahead of Ecco.

Interestingly the team that might determine who gets the second spot is current champions Township Rollers. Rollers are left with three matches before the season ends. Two of the matches are against second spot contenders Uniao Flamengo Santos and Extension Gunners. Santos are the only team to has defeated Rollers in the first round, and they are confident enough to repeat that.

The two teams will lock horns on Sunday. The match will also be a dress rehearsal for Rollers, who are set to slug it out against Centre Chiefs in the Coca Cola finals.

Despite the fact that their championship has been confirmed, Rollers will want to prevent their integrity by winning all the remaining matches. For them this will also show that they are prepared for the Coca Cola encounter with Chiefs.

Gunners on the other hand would want to prove that they have improved. They have been alternating between positions six and seven, and this time they want to move to the second spot.
As the defending runners up, Center Chiefs would not want Santos or Gunners to be ahead of them.
Last season they finished on the second after spot after fighting eventual champions Gaborone United to the very end.
