The Botswana Table Tennis Association will this weekend mark the end of their tour of 2009/2010 by hosting Botswana Top 16.
The invitational competition, where only Top 16 ranked players in both men and women as of April 2010 Rankings, will be held on the 17th of April 2010 at the Civic Center, Gaborone.
BTTA Tournament Organiser, Rorisang Raesima, said that throughout the whole season players have been ranked according to their performances, therefore, on that regard, only the first top 16 ranked players from both men and women are invited to take part.
“They will take part in all events, being in the Singles, Men & Women’s Doubles and the Mixed Doubles,” he said.
Raesima also stated that the System of Play is that in Singles, Group Stage and Single Knockout System will be adopted whilst in all doubles a Double Knockout System will be adopted.
All the games will be officiated by International Table Tennis Federation Approved Umpires.
Raesima further said they would like to invite the public to come and witness Botswana’s finest table tennis players whose level of play is improving every year.
“We are continuing to host a number of competitions and results are showing in all competitions; the level of play has gone up,” he said.
He went on to say that in past competitions they witnessed fantastic table tennis and skill development in their own athletes.
“Table Tennis is moving forward and we are looking forward to run a league before the end of this year,” he noted.
