China, India meddled in Botswana’s 2024 Elections – report

China and India, which are the second and fourth biggest economies in the world respectively, have been flagged by the Commonwealth Experts Team (CET) on allegations that they may have secretly bankrolled the the Botswana Democratic Party’s (BDP) 2024 elections campaign.

The CET, which observed the October 2024 elections at the invitation of the Botswana government, expressed concern that foreign entities may have provided campaign financing and logistical support  for some political parties in Botswana – and names like China, India and Zimbabwe were flagged.
