Customer murdered in F/town Bimbos restaurant

Employees of Bimbos restaurant in Francistown are engulfed in fear following the death of a customer who was murdered in cold blood before their eyes by an unknown assailant on Friday morning last week.

The Manager of Bimbos in Francistown, Irene Dishebo, confirmed the murder incident last week. She said that she was informed of the incident in the early hours of Friday.

“Upon my arrival in the restaurant on Friday morning I found that there were blood stains everywhere on the floor and on the restaurant furniture. My juniors said that a man was stabbed to death in the early hours of Friday at around 2:00 am and the perpetrator had escaped into the dark of the night. When I arrived, the deceased had already been taken to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital by the police and I understand he was certified dead upon arrival,” she said.

The information she further received from her juniors was that the dead man had come into the restaurant to buy food and was later joined by second man. An argument ensued between the two which led to a fight. She said that it was not clear what the argument was all about.

┬á“After a long scuffle between the two men, I am informed that one of them produced a knife and stabbed his victim on the neck and twice on the chest. The perpetrator escaped into the dark of the night,” she said.

One of the employees who witnessed the incident also the victim had come into the restaurant and sat on the chair. She said that within a few seconds another man came and joined him. Just as he was about to order his food, an argument and a fight ensued between the two men finally leading to the murder incident.

“It appears these two men were from a nearby night club. We attempted to alert the police well in time about the fight but they only attended to the crime scene after almost an hour. I am disappointed by the police because should they have come well on time. The man’s life could have been saved. ┬áCentral Police Station is less than a kilometer from this restaurant,” said the eye witness.

Reached for comment, the Assistant Superintendent at Francistown Police Station, Edward Leposo confirmed the murder incident saying that their investigations are still at a preliminary stage.

“This is a fresh matter which is still under police investigations. We cannot divulge much information as this might temper with our investigations. But I do confirm that we have such a case,” he said.

Two weeks ago, another customer was shot dead by robbers at Nandos Restaurant in Palapye. The robbers also made away with money from the restaurant.
