I recently attended court per chance who’s preceedings left me shattered even though I’m not involved in the case. But as an indegenous and caring citizen, borrowing from our clear and outstanding of government policies, where diversification is encouraged and also with a clear message towards citizen empowerment. I was compelled to pay attention to this case. Only to find that the battle is between DCEC and an indegenous citizen Mr Simbi Phiri. Simbi Phiri is an indegenous motswana originating from Tonota. He started venturing in business more than 30 years ago in Gaborone. But later on relocated to South Africa to expand his business dreams.
To the best of my knowledge, Mr Simbi Phiri is directly related to one of the Directors of DCEC. The Director who according to Simbi Phiri’s response articles in one of the local newspapers directly benefited from Mr Simbi Phiri both financially and materially. But it looks like the closely related cousin’s relationship broke down when Mr Simbi Phiri turned down his cousin’s desire from directly benefiting from Simbi Phiri’s newly established construction company in Botswana.
Apparently DCEC mentioned to the courts that Simbi Phiri deposits money in Botswana from South Africa, the Botswana he has nothing to do with, this was intended to make it seem like Simbi Phiri is hiding money in Botswana from the South African authorities. This is how some jealous, lazy and petty indegenous Batswana do all they can to frustrate other Batswana willing to take risks in business simply because either their relationship or friendship has fallen off or that they themselves have nothing big to dream of. The PHD syndrome.
How on earth does DCEC claim not to know where to find Simbi Phiri….??! When a Director at DCEC is directly related to Simbi Phiri by blood and both originating from my village Tonota?? The DCEC Director surely knows where Simbi Phiri is. They are blood relatives. They have had dinner and even slept at Simbi Phiri’s house in Johannesburg.
As indegenous citizens we have to learn to protect our own. We can not be spectators in our own economy. We must NOT settle for crumbs anymore and perpetually be at the back of the cue.
My take is that we only have one Botswana. Naturalised citizens and foreigners have their countries of birth to relocate back if our economy collapses. Mr Simbi Phiri only has one country and that is Botswana. It’s about time we do things differently. Only because some people seem to strongly believe that ‘if I can’t make it to where he is, why should he/she!!!
Foreigners and naturalised citizens have been fully supported by government but yet some indegenous Batswana who sit in law enforcement agencies and procurement boards do not want indegenous Batswana to benefit from their government. Some jealous, lazy and petty indegenous Batswana in the government enclave do all they can to frustrate other Batswana willing to take risks in order to employ our graduate children who’re today roaming in the streets unemployed.
It’s about time we do things differently. A brave and courageous person gets rewarded for his or her bravery. He has the ability to diffuse all the hurdles. Good luck follows such people and they are bound to meet success, honor and goodwill.
People achieve success in life not because of their good luck alone. They achieve success because they are brave enough to remove the obstacles with courage. Things that come to us quite easily are rather lightly esteemed. Prizes won after hard fights are worth having.
PHD sufferers need to draw inspiration from the likes the Simbi Phiriso, Mr Charles Tibone, Satar Dada, Derrick Brink, Ishmael Nshakazhogwe, etc. They will never succeed if their lives are going to be shaped pulling other people down and putting all the red tapes under the sun. They have to get up and correctly fulfil their job contracts in the most professional manner for them them to be respected. DCEC personnel at all levels must be examply all the time in the execution of their duties. This is how they will earn both respect and credibility.
