De Beers/Botswana sweetheart deal on the cards?

Botswana may see an increase in diamond sales for the 9th and 10th De Beers sights, in a sweetheart deal that may see the global diamond miner wheedling a P7 billion tax exemption from President Duma Boko – close sources have revealed.

De Beers CEO Al Cook and Anglo-American CEO Duncan Wanblad’s meeting with President Boko and Vice President Ndaba Gaolatlhe at the Office of the President on Thursday coincided with the De Beers 9th sight which ran from November 11th to 15th.
