Turkish men’s wear brand D’S Damat have just opened their first Botswana store at the new Acacia Mall in Phakalane. The cosmopolitan men’s fashion store, owned by businessman Callistus Phologolo, was officially opened by Turkish Ambassador to Botswana ─░brahim Ya─ƒl─▒ this past Wednesday, November 15.
He said when they first opened the Turkish embassy in 2014 one of their major priorities was to expand Turkish economic relations with Botswana. “With that we organized economic activities and invited business delegations from Turkey to come and exchange ideas with local entrepreneurs,” Ya─ƒl─▒ said. The initiative, the ambassador said, triggered a relationship between Botswana and Turkish business people which now sees Phologolo joining hands with a Turkish company to open a store in Gaborone.
“With the opening of D’S Damat the needs of those Batswana men who appreciate quality and finesse in clothing will be met,” he said, adding “Even in Italy, a country known for its leading fashion industry, D’S Damat has opened at least 15 stores.”
He said the opening of the store was just a first step in a long relationship between Batswana and the Turkish business community. “We invite all young Batswana entrepreneurs to discover the potential that Turkey can offer and take advantage of the opportunities available.”
Also speaking at the launch, D’S Damat Sub Sahara Director Ferhat Saridogan said this was only their first store in Southern Africa with plans to open in South Africa soon.
He said their relationship with Phologolo began two years ago , adding that he (Phologolo) has since become part of the D’S Damat family. “We are proud of Callistus for opening this beautiful store here,” Sarigon said. “This is the best men’s wear store in Botswana.” For his part Phologolo said the times had changed. He said today’s men understand that clothes are about feeling and looking good. “Time has come for Batswana men to take their place as trendsetters of class, elegance, and taste. We have brought up a store that speaks and resonates with a working man who appreciates quality and style.” Phologolo said it was about time that Batswana men had a store like D’S Damat here in Botswana.
D’S Damat is the cosmopolitan men’s fashion and retail outlet with hundreds of stores across the world. “Gentlemen the world over from Spain to Switzerland have enjoyed the structure and feel and fit of this brand’s impeccable attention to men’s clothing,” the company says.
Owned by the Turkish company Orka Holding, the brand became a leader in men’s clothing in the Russian market in less than six years from the first shop in the country. “Since 2010, D’s Damat has had the best quality-price ratio for every collection and clothing line and it is now among the main choices for the Russian customers for ceremony line, business or casual outfits,” says a statement from the company. “D’s Damat is a standard for men who pay attention to their overall look and their outfits.”
