Former judge and minister Unity Dow has indicated that Facebook user France Museveni is protecting the interests of both President Mokgweetsi Masisi and Director General of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) Peter Magosi.
In her amended court papers, which were missing from the original application in which she is being sued by DIS agent Botho Seboko for alleging that he is Facebook user France Museveni, Dow alleges that the Facebook user is protecting the interests of the DIS and the President.
The amended papers which have not been made public state that: “France Museveni and the applicant are furthering and protecting what they consider to be interests of Masisi, Magosi and the DIS. The assertion that France Museveni describes himself as whistle blower is admitted but the proper descriptions for this character or group of characters are scoundrel, slander and mud slinger.”
“France Museveni operates a Facebook Page, a Facebook Account. A Twitter Account and a Facebook Group,” said Dow.
She said: “It is asserted that the applicant’s position at the DIS gives him a unique opportunity to be fully aware of the activities of France Museveni,” said Dow.
Dow said the assertion that France Museveni is controversial is admitted. “I specifically assert that France Museveni is more than just controversial, he harms individuals and their businesses but he is also a threat to national security, Botswana’s diplomatic relations with other countries and he sows seeds of mistrust against official institutions such as the judiciary and the police service,” said Dow.
This troll, Dow argues, is a national security and undermines the very mandate that the applicant (Seboko) and his colleagues at the DIS are entrusted with and acts in a manner that is clearly influenced by considerations that are not relevant to the DIS’s legitimate functions.
“It is worthy of note that the applicant fails to share with the Court his own professional assessment Of whether indeed France Museveni is a whistle blower,” said Dow.
She said a whistle blower shares information with law enforcement agencies in confidence, for the greater good.
“France Museveni on the other hand, receives information from the DIS, the Minister for State President Morwaeng, Israel of the DCEC and others and then distorts it, harming personal reputations, creating national security issues, diplomatic discord and generally undermining national peace and harmony,” said Dow.
She further argued that; “France Museveni is not a whistleblower. Examples in support of this assertion are given under.”
Dow said the frequent attacks on Judges whenever the DIS loses a case or intimidation during trial is eroding public trust in the judiciary as a whole.
