Last week Thursday and Friday, a major issue in the Newspapers was on BONELA’s desperate and outlandish affront to get their group of homosexuals recognised as a sub-culture in Botswana. I can understand why BONELA cannot comprehend why Evangelical Fellowship of Botswana should constitute itself into a stumbling block in BONELA’s insistence that homosexuals and lesbians should be accorded a pride of place in the culture of Botswana. It is sheer wickedness and insulting for BONELA to contemplate convincing Batswana that the homosexual highway is the best way for them. We continue to pray that God will very soon ambush and capture BONELA leaders and their ignorant disciples like He did to Saul and transformed him to Paul. Let BONELA be reminded that in all truly independent African countries, the homosexual lobbyists have been disgraced and chased underground.
For BONELA to ever contemplate a meeting with the evangelical Pastors to negotiate a co-existence with homosexuals is an assault on our sensibilities. How can light ever negotiate co-existence with darkness? God has made these Pastors watchmen (Ezekiel 33:7-9) over God’s houses in Botswana and if they fail to warn the homosexuals and their lobbyists of the danger of their activities, God will require their blood from their hands. The seeming struggle between EFB and BONELA is the battle between light and darkness, between progress and retrogression and between life and death. Sincerely, one continues to wonder what the attraction in homosexuality is! Only a warped and depraved mind can be inclined to it.
To remind BONELA and their clients, it was for the crime of sexual recklessness and homosexuality that God rained fire and brimstones on Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19). God specifically and emphatically warned His children in Leviticus 18:22, 23; 20:13,15, 16 against same sex mating and having sex with animals. Thus the Pentecostal and the Evangelicals have the Bible for their guidance. Indeed, the Bible is a book of life and a book for life. Though it was written over 2000 years ago, all the warnings and issues the Bible raised are happening now with a frightening frequency and impunity. Most of these scandalous and pit-of-hell thoughts and acts began from the Western world, one would expect very soon a request and an agitation for legislation to allow sexual intercourse between human beings and animals. Some states in America, last year passed a law that allowed soldiers to have maximum sexual joy with horses, dogs and donkeys. One can guess that this legislation of bestiality will be BONELA’s next bus stop. How far in moral degradation should the nation bend and for whose sake?
The implication of BONELA’s request that their rights be accommodated within the culture is that other behavioural deviants and criminals would have the same right of argument. Rapists, robbers, murderers and alcoholics will form associations to fight their rights to continue with their ignoble anti-social activities. I humbly recommend to BONELA Isaiah 55:7 “Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to God, for he will freely pardon”.
The reiterated position of BONELA on LGBT rights that ”human rights are inherent in every human being regardless of their gender, gender identity, race, HIV status and sexual orientation”, is predicated on false grounds. Is there any absolute human right anywhere in the world? Should your right trample on the culture of a society and the sensibility of its people? Don’t serial rapists and other sex-perverts have the same rights? If every behaviour-deviant should come forward shouting from the roof-top about his right to do what he or she wants, there would be total breakdown of law and order, stability, unity, peace, security and progress in that society. What do you mean by sexual orientation? So those who masturbate, engage in oral sex, breast sex and thigh sex should also come forward and demand for a right of public commendation and acceptance? Many scientific studies in the Western world have shown unanimously that homosexuality is a behaviour-deviation, a chosen life style against the norm rather than being a genetic predisposition.
BONELA talked about the debatable position of Evangelical Christians on homosexuality, let BONELA and its accomplices know that the Word of God is forever settled in heaven. Our stand on homosexuality will forever remain the same unless the words in the Bible change and God ceases to be God. I sincerely pray for the day that Botswana government will, as prophesied by BONELA Director, pass an “imprison the gay bill”.
The homosexual gays and lesbians campaigners are desperate enemies of Botswana and Batswana. Let me briefly highlight some of the wickedness BONELA is insisting on unleashing on Botswana:
a). Contrary to the opinion of former President Mogae, with due respect, (I suspect, he was deliberately misinformed), the prevalence and incidence of HIV/AIDS among the homosexuals are more than double those among the normal population. So legalising homosexuality in Botswana would add more to the already huge burden of combatting the scourge in Botswana. We are all aware that after several millions of US dollars spent on HIV/AIDS prevention and control, only a marginal success has been achieved.
b). Decriminalising homosexuality in Botswana would create an upsurge of homosexual population and sub-culture. You can be sure, our children in primary and secondary schools would be the first recruits. The end-result of this new breed of homosexuals, nobody can predict. We are all aware of the high prevalence of hard drug abuse in our primary schools, Junior and senior secondary schools. Teachers and parents are under tremendous pressure finding solution to this trend. Why compound the woes and helplessness of teachers and parents!!
c). There is strength and power in high population. Botswana is striving to increase its population for increased personal and national development. Since homosexuals cannot produce children, it means as they die off, nobody will replace them. Now imagine a scenario where all Batswana are homosexuals (God forbids bad thing!!), as this is the ultimate goal of BONELA, it means one day, all Batswana would die off and there would be no replacement. Thus Botswana would cease to exist. These homosexuals are not even ashamed to argue that they would adopt children! Whose children would they adopt? An adopted child by a homosexual is automatically a recruit into homosexuality. If homosexuals truly love children, why don’t they produce their own biological children!!
d). As the Vice-President His honour Dr. Kedikilwe rightly emphasised, Botswana should be striving to revive and strengthen the family and its values through legislative policies that would encourage hetero-sexual marriages and the production of godly children. A country where less than 20% of the population is married and a large majority are either single parents or cohabiting, is a disaster for the family and for the stability and progress of the Nation. The family is the unit of the society. Where the family prospers, the society progresses and prospers and where the family breaks down, as is currently in Botswana, the problems and the ‘scatter-scatter’ are obvious for all to see. God did not make a mistake when He observed in Genesis 2:18 that it is not good that man be alone and He created Eve to complement Adam. God also blessed this first couple to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth. Homosexuality is therefore a great and wicked sin against God and man.
e). A country’s culture is expected to grow and be better. What better-ment and value is BONELA’s homosexual gays and lesbians intending to add to the Botswana culture??? Nothing, instead they will add aches, pains, sorrows, family destruction and degradation, more street children, more juvenile and adult delinquencies, more teenage pregnancies and parenthood, poverty, alcoholism and premature death, among others.
In the name of Jesus, BONELA’s gays and lesbians will not have their way in Botswana.
