The Officer Commanding No.15 District, Senior Superintendent Alakanani Makobo, confirmed the incident to the Sunday Standard on Friday.

┬á“The boy was coming from school in the afternoon when he met this assailant who raped him and then escaped into the nearby bushes,” he said.

Makobo added that the boy then ran home and reported the incident to his parents who then alerted the police. He said the culprit is still on the run and police investigations are ongoing.

He said that although cases of that nature are not rampant in the area, they have registered a few similar cases in the past years. He appealed to the public to help the police with information to arrest the culprit.

Meanwhile, Makobo said that they are investigating a case of murder in which a 30-year-old woman was found dead with stab wounds at the farms near Monarch location in Francistown on the 2nd of February.
