Farmers got beef with Peggy’s budget 

The Botswana National Beef Producers Union (BNBPU) is urging the government to allocate a specific budget tailored to address the pressing challenges currently afflicting the nation’s beef sector. This appeal comes ahead of the eagerly anticipated budget speech to be delivered by the Minister of Finance, Peggy Serame, scheduled for Monday.

Andrew Seeletso, spokesperson for the BNBPU, stressed the myriad challenges threatening the sector, including drought, and the looming foot-and-mouth disease scare from neighboring South Africa and Zimbabwe. As the cattle farmers brace themselves for a challenging year, Seeletso emphasized the need for a strategic and customized financial plan from the government.
