Village Magistrate Oagile Mokibe on Friday remanded five Odi Village men in prison in connection with the murder of a Security System security guard, Olebogeng Ramapulane, and for the attempted murder of a Chinese citizen, Liu Jian Hui, on August 28, 2013 in Gaborone North.
The five accused persons are Lebang Ntesi, 26; Phemelo Tshelang, 22; Gorata Sebego, 28; Patrick Gaaile, 39, and Mpho Mangwa, 26.
The Magistrate remanded them in custody after the prosecutor, Sub Inspector Galekutlwe Masumba of Sir Seretse Khama International Airport had told her that they had also recovered some money amounting to P15, 000 and some property believed to have been stolen during the commission of the crime.
The prosecutor told the Court that Hui was still recuperating in Princess Marina’s Intensive Care Unit.
The five accused persons did not show any emotions during their short appearance in Court and carried out relaxed conversations amongst themselves after the session as they were led to a waiting police car that was to transfer them to jail.
Their next mention was set for September 9th.
The accused were unrepresented.
