The University of Botswana (UB) has hired former Botswana Defence Force army Chiefs, Lt General Matshwenyego Fisher, and former Commander of the Ground Forces, Pius Mokgware, as lecturers in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
The two men have already reported for duty as senior lecturer and lecturer, respectively.
Fisher retired from BDF in 2006 and joined Wits University as a lecturer. In 2008, he enrolled at Wits University to read for his PhD. He is currently compiling his research thesis, which is on ‘defence policy making in Botswana’.
Before moving to South Africa, Fisher had a short stint at UB, where he worked as a part-time lecturer in the Political Science and Public Administration Department.
Fisher holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, a Masters Degree in Political Science and Public Administration and an MBA.
On the other hand, Mokgware, who was forced into retirement earlier this year, joins the department with a Bachelors Degree in Business Adminstration.He is an accountant by profession but also holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies.
