It’s not all gloom and doom for the tourism industry this year as a new hotel and conference center, Tlotlo, which gives a facelift to the Hospitality Industry, is set to be opened.
For the past ten years, Tlotlo has only been operating as a conference centre from Phase 2, with four conference rooms and one auditorium. With an expansion in their clientele, it became apparent that Tlotlo Conference was a big fish in a small pond hence the move to a bigger place.
“As a strategic move, we decided to widen our operations beyond just a conference centre to a state of the art hotel and conference centre with 84 residential rooms, seven conference rooms, and one auditorium with a total capacity of 1000,” said Antonia Moatshe, the managing director at Tlotlo hotel and Conference Center.
“Our aim is to be the most sought after hotel and conference center in Botswana,” she said. The new hotel and conference center will be providing luxurious accommodation, state of the art conference facilities and exceptional customer services while maximizing staff potential, and guaranteeing stakeholder satisfaction.
The new property will be located at the end of Block 5 along the Gabane road, opposite Believers Destiny. Moatshe said they are aiming for a 5 star hotel rating.
All the rooms are two in one; that is, a shower and a bathtub and lavishly furnished for client comfort. The conference rooms are all executive with built in presentation screens and projectors.
Moatshe revealed that they will be opening the hotel for assessment by facility auditors on September 7th and 8th, and we will be open to the public by September 10th.
Tlotlo hotel is proudly 100 percent citizen-owned by a young lady, Antonia Shadiwa Moatshe, from Bokaa Village.
The hotel has 84 rooms, but is opening with 44 rooms for now. There are 64 Standard rooms with 48 Queen Beds and 16 Twin beds. The twin beds are also convertible to queen size bed.
It has 2 Paraplegic rooms, 20 Executive rooms with 3 in 1 bathroom; that is shower, bath tub and a Jacuzzi, spacious with enough working space available
Each room is fully equipped with air conditioner, mini bar fridges, Free WiFi access, 11 dstv channels and personal safety deposit boxes in the rooms with full bathroom amenities, which include a dental kit.
The conference center has 6 Executive Conference rooms to sit varying group sizes, Executive Boardroom and a 1000 cinema-seater auditorium.
A wedding Parlor is in the pipeline.
“All our conference rooms are wifi accessible as well as having in-built presentation screens and projectors,” she said.
The hotel has a 40 seater Fine Dining A’ la carte restaurant (opening for dinner only), a 200-seater buffet restaurant, which serves B/Fast, Lunch and Dinner and a Bar Pool.
Work is still in progress on a full-day Room Service and indoor Cocktail Bar.
