The government enclave, Botswana’s biggest employer has instituted a freeze on new employment across all ministries and government departments as the country grapples with a deepening financial crisis.
A directive issued by the Director of Public Service Management (DPSM), Gaone Macholo, warns that the country’s fiscal position is now “on an unsustainable path,” with mineral revenues falling sharply below expectations.
