The government has dismissed allegations that patients were deliberately given fake or substandard medicines during the administration of former president Mokgweetsi Masisi. The Ministry of Health says there is no evidence to support the claims.
Responding to a question from Tswapong South MP Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang, the minister of health, Stephen Modise, said assertions that counterfeit antiretroviral (ARV) drugs, substandard hypertension medication or hazardous cough syrups were knowingly distributed between July 2023 and July 2024 were unfounded.
