How Botswana is failing to unlock P1.64 trillion  wealth

A new report by the African Development Bank (AfDB) shows how Botswana holds an estimatedP1.64 trillion in national wealth but is failing to utlilise it because strategic reforms are lacking to fully harness its potential.

The revelation came during the launch of the AfDB’s 2025 Country Focus Report for Botswana titled “Making Botswana’s Capital Work Better for its Development”, on September 16. The report highlighted the importance of targeted reforms to stimulate economic growth, diversify revenue streams and enhance the country’s overall development trajectory.
