In July, Botswana’s Imports went down while Exports drowned!

The latest International Merchandise Trade Statistics (IMTS) monthly digest from Statistics Botswana reveals a troubling picture of the country’s trade in July 2024, with significant declines in both imports and exports.

In July 2024, Botswana’s total imports reached P6.94 billion, marking a 16.3 percent drop from the revised figure of P8.28 billion in June 2024. The decline was led by major commodity groups, including Fuel, and Food, Beverages & Tobacco, which contributed 21.2 percent and 17.8 percent, respectively. Machinery & Electrical Equipment and Chemicals & Rubber Products followed with shares of 16.1 percent and 12.1 percent.
