Is government confident with our prisons leadership?

In the year 2022 I attended an evening event at the National Stadium known as the retreat. This marks the night before the actual independence day. In short, these are independence eve celebrations. Some sort of vigil that ushers in our independence.

There were several activities that were displayed but the part where most people liked was the drill displayed by the three disciplined forces of our nation. First is the Prisons Department who come in with their crazy drum major leading their band. The fellow always mesmerizes the crowd with his unorthodox antics which I don’t consider to be part of the regular drill.

They are followed by the Botswana Police Service band whose drum major is no match to that of the previous band. The police band is bigger and hence it produces better sound. They are latter followed by the Botswana Defence Force band which matches in with a large parade.
