Let us anchor public policies in facts, not feelings

We all in this country desire good living standards for our people, families, and everyone else. We want quality education, good health, leisure, and prosperous incomes for all of us. While we desire this, one thing we cannot do is assume we can decree good living standards. We cannot decree good health. We cannot decree good household incomes, wages, or educational outcomes. Policymakers are also in the same bind.
