Lira, Samantha Mogwe to share stage at Botswana Craft

It will be a battle of the divas come November 6th as Botswana Craft in collaboration with Mascom and various other sponsors bring live to the stage South African songstress Lira and our very own Samantha Mogwe.

For P300 Batswana will be able to enjoy the voices of these award winning vocalists at this particular Mascom live session. Lira was originally born as Lerato Molapo in Daveyton township in Johannesburg’s East Rand, South Africa. Her name literally translates to “love”, an aspect she happens to sing a lot about in her songs.

Apart from her singing talent, Lira is conversant in four different languages. As far as talent goes, she has established herself as a multi-platinum selling and an 11times South African Music Award-winning Afro-Soul vocalist who refers to her music as “a fusion of soul, funk, elements of jazz and African.”

Lira’s career began as far back in 2000 and under the tutelage of music mogul Arthur Mafokate. She released her debut album titled All my Love which earned her accolades at the Metro FM Awards, South African Music Awards and Channel O Reel Music Awards. The title track even knocked Beyonc├®’s single “Dangerously in Love” off the South African charts.

Local songstress Samantha Mogwe who just arrived from America where she was nominated for best female for the AFRIMMA awards will also be serenading the crowd. This fresh faced young lady is one of Botswana’s finest export in the music industry. It should be a treat to see these two talented artists share the stage and it has been made possible by the Mascom Live Sessions.
