The annual Lobatse International Beef Fest returns this Saturday, July 29, at the Lobatse Town Park. The calendar event has always brought the sluggish beef capital of Botswana to life through live local music, good food and family oriented entertainment.
Now in its fifth year, the festival is a melting pot of indigenous beef inspired dishes aimed at celebrating Botswana’s rich beef heritage. The event is a showcase of rustic three legged pot delicacies like Mokwetjepe, Mokoto, Serobe and a succulent beef braai complimented by a choice of pap or bogobe.
“Families are encouraged to come out and enjoy the festival; a provision made especially for children, the Kiddies’ Corner, is a highlight of the main event. The Kiddies Corner, under adult supervision, will have fun activities for kids that include games, face painting and jumping castles,” the organizers say.
In an effort to serve the community in which it operates, the Lobatse International Beef Festival, has reduced the prices of exhibition stalls to enable small business entrepreneurs to participate. Arts and Craft stalls are also making a debut in this year’s festival, increasing the variety of what is on offer for revelers. The entertainment lineup is also reflective of the town as artists and DJs from the region were invited to be on the line up through social media.
As an ongoing Social Corporate Responsibility initiative, the Festival is working with Lobatse Brigade and Limkokwing University students for hands on event management experience, with certificates of appreciation awarded after the event.
On stage, guests will enjoy performances by Vee Mampeezy, Dr. Vom, Han C, Lucia Rantleru and Mafitlhakgosi to name a few as well as music from DJs Boogie Sid, Gouveiya, Sly, and Lobatse locals Fenzo and Jembesoul among others. “Tickets are currently on sale through Webtickets at selected Spar outlets and Lobatse at all Liquoramas and Engen Filling Station. Prices range from P200 for adults, P50 for children over 5 years old and P500 for VIP. All tickets include food.
“The Lobatse International Beef Fest would like to acknowledge sponsors; Letshego, Bokomo Botswana, Medical Rescue International (MRI) and the Gaborone International Music and Culture Week (GIMC).”
