Botswana’s hospitality industry could see a boost in demand after the government retained a P1,500 daily local per diem for public servants, with an accommodation component now subject to receipts, the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) said.
From Sept. 1, 2026, public servants will be required to account for up to P900 of the allowance for accommodation at licensed hospitality establishments. The remaining P600 for meals and incidental expenses will not require receipts.
