Director of Intelligence Services Peter Magosi has suspended his deputy Director General (Operations) Kenamile Badubi, Deputy Director of Transport Charles Modisenyane and three senior officers from duty pending investigations.
In an interview with this publication, the DIS director General, would neither confirm nor deny the latest development saying investigations relating to the issue are ongoing.
“I don’t want to comment on the issue now because investigations on the said officers are still ongoing,” said Magosi
The Telegraph can reveal the Director of Finance, Director of Transport, and Procurement Officer were all suspended last week on suspicions of leaking security information on the purchase of presidential armoured vehicles.
A source closer to this publication revealed that the deputy director in question was at some stage fired from work by former spy boss Isaac Kgosi and was recruited back to work by the current Director General.
The Public and Members of Parliament last week raised concern on the purchase of Presidential armoured vehicle during Covid-19 pandemic.
When answering questions, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane confirmed the purchase of the armored vehicles arguing that government will from time to time increase the security of a sitting President.
Tsogwane said PPADB procedure of direct purchase of the said vehicles by DIS was followed. He further said the vehicles will also be used by visiting foreign heads of states.
The latest suspensions now bring the number of suspended officers to seven.
