A 35-year-old man of Makobo Village in the North East District on Friday appeared before Francistown Regional Magistrate, Lorraine Makati Lesang, to answer to a charge of attempted murder.
On the 27 of January 2010 Botumile Chimako is alleged to have threatened one Thapelo Morongwa in Makono Village by uttering the words “ Ke tla go thuba thuba thogo ke go bolaya jaaka ntsa ke bo ke tswa discharge ko court.”
It is also alleged that the accused went further to tell the complainant that if he had a gun he would finish him off instantly. However the prosecution pleaded with court to remand the accused as he was facing another similar matter in which he had violated the bail conditions. The prosecutor also pleaded with court to keep the accused in custody as he posed a serious danger to the complainant. He brought to the court’s attention that investigations were at an advanced state therefore he might temper with the evidence.
However, the accused pleaded with the court to be afforded medical help as he had health complications. The magistrate insisted that he be assisted with medical help but be remanded in custody.
Trial dates are to be set on the 10th of February 2010.
