April 14 2010: Francistown magistrate, Pride Rusike, last week sent Ogomoditse Hemens Lekono back to jail for violating his bail conditions.
Lekono, who is facing threat to kill charges, was sent back to jail after state prosecutor, David Ramoseki, told court that he violated his bail conditions by threatening to kill his exÔÇôgirlfriend, Lilian Libambe.
The court was told that Lekono threatened to kill his girlfriend twice, and even threatened to kill her children at Area S location.
“On Saturday I was instructed to investigate a case in which Lekono had allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend Lilian Libambe in Somerset Extension,” said the investigating officer.
The court heard that Libambe is hospitalized in Nyangabwe Hospital after she fractured her leg while trying to flee from Lekono. The investigation officer also said that the police are investigating yet another threat to kill case against Lekono, in which he is accused of threatening to kill his children.
When he was granted bail a month ago, Lekono was instructed not to be in contact with the complainant or come near her. State prosecutor David Ramoseki told the court that it is evident that Lekono is a threat to Libambe’s life and that he should be remanded in custody. He also said that Lekono can hinder police investigations.
Lekono was granted bail earlier this year after he threatened to kill his child, Ookeditse Nchenje, by uttering the words “fa o bona ke go tsere jaana ke batla go go bolaya ke bo ke ipolaya,” meaning, “the reason why I went to fetch you is because I want to kill you and commit suicide”. He is said to have committed the offense along Masunga road near Monarch farms on February 24.
